What Do Our Dental Hygienists Do?
Along with the dentist, your dental hygienist is a healthcare professional that are licensed to offer services after obtaining the proper credentials and registration from the College of Registered Dental Hygienists of Alberta. Dental hygienists work as part of the Monterey Dental Centre team, performing certain tasks that involve direct patient care.
At Monterey Dental Centre, our hygienists pride themselves on their efficiency and keeping our practice running on time!
It is important to note that a dental hygienist is required to obtain years of formal training and education before being registered as a practitioner. Most jurisdictions require at least a two-year degree in dental hygiene, as well as science-related courses as part of the program. A hygienist will have taken courses that provide background in oral anatomy, pharmacology, nutrition, and periodontology. Perhaps the single most common group of tasks associated with the profession involves preventive dental care. Gum maintenance is often handled by the dental hygienist.
Our dental hygiene team follows a client-centered philosophy in providing hygiene therapy, treating various oral conditions, and promoting health and wellness with an unwavering commitment to excellence. Our dental hygienists offer personalized hygiene treatment while fostering friendly patient relationships that are based on trust and open communication.
Their treatment modalities and collaborative approach are centered on a foundation of evidence-based knowledge and years of experience. It is their mission to assist you in achieving and maintaining positive oral health outcomes through prevention, education, and comprehensive care.
